Getting things started… đŸŒ¿

For those few of you that have heard about this project, please know it has developed a little slower than I would have liked. I've been working since May to make sure our church has alignment on WHY we would pursue this as well as making sure I have appropriate approval and accountability to our administrative elder board.

We're all green lit now and making strides to start building out our inventory. We're WAY off my projected timeline, but I think we're in a better position as a team to tackle this initiative we're calling the Neighborhood Plant Market.

  • We received a $5,000 grant from Grace Financial

  • We have a collaboration agreement with Wear Gloves, Inc. (whose founders were baptized by Jim Custer at Grace Polaris decades ago). They will manage all the back end of payroll management and simply invoice us for the total expense, greatly simplifying our office-work.

  • We filed a DBA and a public notice. We have also filed for a separate bank account for this initiative. Folks be able to donate directly and this will simplify any future point of sale transactions that might have gotten mucked up in the church financial processes.

  • We're building a team of both administrative and labor support through the church and our people have been very enthusiastic about this being part of our ministry as a local church.

  • We started a Youtube channel months ago and already have 3.7k views on two (very vague) shorts with 5 subscribers.

  • We're developing a logo in collaboration with some of the Wear Gloves team who have graphic design credentials

This is all really exciting and I'm sure we’ll discover all sorts of questions as we dig in to getting this ball rolling for real.
