ASSIST Bootcamp

Last week I teamed up with our sister churches in Sebring and Lakeland for a two-day intensive “bootcamp” hosted by ASSIST Church Expansion. We collaborated to create frameworks for a number of projects with the goal of helping the Sebring Church “refresh” it’s ministry. This investment will be reciprocated next year as the team will turn their focus on helping our congregation here in Ocala. Please pray for the team (Pastor Matt Wheelock, Pastor Ben Russell, Pastor Orrin Witt and Patrick Fox) as we work together to be more purposeful in fulfilling our mission to invite our neighbors to meet and follow Jesus.

A few ways to help our neighbors

Helping neighbors

COVID has put strain on all of us in a number of different ways. Belleview High School has reached out to ask if we can help them bear some of their burden: they need reusable cloth masks. We have a great opportunity to help folks in our community navigate the difficulties we’re facing together. Please reply to office@ocalagrace.org and let me know if you’d like to make or purchase some masks and be a model of Jesus in our public schools.

Our church building could also use some of your attention. Please consider sharing some of your time to help keep up our yard. I’ll be happy to train anyone on how to use the mower and/or weed eater so that we can work together to take care of the gifts God has blessed us with (and make them ready to share with our neighbors).

Thanks so much!

Pastor Michael

TL;DR

  • Consider making or purchasing reusable cloth masks to donate to Belleview High School.

  • Consider donating some time and energy to take care of the lawns at the church building.

This Week at Grace

NewConnections with Our Neighbors

Several months ago I was approached by a neighbor who was considering starting a new “home-school co-op” on this side of town. Not technically a “co-op” but they plan to gather some home-schooling families which will regularly take some time to collaborate together on lessons, all they needed was a space to meet.

They started meeting in our building this past week and will be meeting throughout the school year on Wednesdays! I’m so excited to bless our neighbors with the space God has richly blessed us with. Please pray with me for these 9 students and their families as they learn and grow together.

  • The Wilson Family

  • The McLain Family

  • The Bleau Family

  • The Lowrie Family

  • The Stevens Family

  • The Jackson Family

Equipping and Releasing Disciples (A story of pride)

Ed and his wife moved to Pheonix, Ariz. in 1994 and planted a church. He drew up a growth plan for the congregation to reach tens of thousands of people over the next 20 years. “It was all arrogance and pride at the time,” says Ed.”
